CertainTeed

CertainTeed Integrity Roof System®

The manufacturer system gives us the framework: compatible roofing components, installation requirements, ventilation, and manufacturer-backed protection. Almighty's field standard determines how deliberately we build on that foundation.

CertainTeed asphalt roofing project by Almighty Contracting

CertainTeed Roofing. Built the Almighty Way.

Manufacturer standards give us the foundation. The details we add determine how far we take it.

Built Beyond the Baseline

The Manufacturer StandardIs Our Starting Point.

We build every asphalt roof around the CertainTeed Integrity Roof System and the requirements associated with that system. But simply meeting the manufacturer requirements isn't where we want an Almighty roof to stop.

We add the details we believe strengthen the finished roof: enhanced high-wind fastening, additional ice-and-water protection around vulnerable penetrations, metal-lined valleys, balanced ventilation, and hand-nailed, double-sealed ridge caps.

CertainTeed defines the system. Almighty defines how far we take it.

The Almighty Asphalt Standard

Six Details BuiltInto an Almighty Roof.

These details aren't positioned as last-minute upgrades. They're part of how we approach a premium asphalt roofing installation.

01 — Fastening

High-Wind Nailing Standard

We use an enhanced fastening approach while maintaining the required nail placement and installation requirements for the specific CertainTeed roofing system.

02 — Waterproofing

Ice + Water at Critical Penetrations

Vulnerable penetrations and transitions receive additional waterproofing attention so they aren't dependent on the finished shingle alone.

03 — Valleys

Metal-Lined Roof Valleys

Where roof planes concentrate water, we create a dedicated metal drainage surface through the valley.

04 — Ventilation

Balanced Intake + Exhaust

We evaluate intake and exhaust together instead of assuming ridge vent alone creates a balanced attic system.

05 — Ridge

Hand-Nailed Ridge Cap

Hip and ridge cap is hand nailed so fastening placement can be controlled at some of the roof's most exposed finished details.

06 — Added Protection

Double-Sealed Ridge Details

We add sealing at critical cap details rather than relying only on the basic ridge-cap fastening pattern.

The warranty should validate the standard. It shouldn't be the highest standard we're willing to build to.

The Integrity Roof System

The Shingle IsOnly the Visible Layer.

Long-term performance depends on the complete roofing assembly and how each layer connects to the next.

01 — Roof Deck

Start With the Structure

The existing roofing is removed so the deck can be evaluated before the new roof covers it.

02 — Water Protection

Secondary Defense

Ice-and-water protection and synthetic underlayment help protect beneath the finished roofing.

03 — Ventilation

Manage the Assembly

Balanced intake and exhaust help manage heat and moisture within the attic and roofing system.

04 — Architectural Shingles

The Finished Surface

CertainTeed architectural shingles create the visible weather surface of the roof.

05 — Starter

Protect the Perimeter

Compatible starter establishes secure roof edges and supports the complete system.

06 — Flashing

Control Water at Interruptions

Walls, chimneys, penetrations, and transitions require dedicated water-management details.

07 — Hip + Ridge

Finish the Highest Points

Compatible ridge components complete the system and receive Almighty's additional hand-finished details.

08 — Documentation

Create Accountability

Preparation, ventilation, materials, and critical details are documented throughout the roofing project.

Ventilation Is Part of the Roof

A Ridge Vent AloneDoes Not Make a Balanced System.

Exhaust only works when the assembly has an adequate path for replacement air. That's why we evaluate intake and exhaust together instead of simply installing ridge vent and assuming the system is balanced.

Ventilation also matters to the manufacturer-backed roofing system. We want the attic configuration to support the roof's long-term performance and the applicable manufacturer requirements.

Intake

Give the System Air

Intake creates the incoming airflow needed for the exhaust side of the system to function properly.

Exhaust

Give Air a Path Out

Proper exhaust allows rising heat and moisture to leave the attic assembly.

CertainTeed asphalt roofing preparation by Almighty Contracting

Roof Preparation

The work underneath the shingles determines the foundation they're installed over.

Preparation First

Don't Coverthe Problems Underneath.

Roof replacement gives us an opportunity that disappears once the new shingles are installed: the chance to expose the existing assembly, inspect it, and prepare it properly.

01Strip Existing Roofing to the Deck
02Evaluate & Resecure the Roof Deck
03Replace Required Damaged Sheathing
04Install Required Water Protection
05Add Protection at Critical Penetrations
06Install Synthetic Underlayment
07Prepare Flashings & Metal Valleys

A More Efficient Roofing Process

The site visit isn't where we start figuring out your roof. It's where we verify what we already understand.

Remote evaluations are preliminary and based on available information. Decking, ventilation, flashing, concealed conditions, measurements, access, and other project variables are subject to onsite verification.

Manufacturer-Backed Protection

Built Beyond the Warranty.Backed by One Anyway.

CertainTeed's warranty structure gives qualifying homeowners manufacturer protection behind the roofing products and system. Eligible Integrity Roof Systems may also qualify for enhanced SureStart PLUS protection under applicable program requirements.

That protection matters. But we don't want the warranty document to become the highest construction standard we're willing to meet.

Manufacturer System

CertainTeed Integrity Roof System

Manufacturer components and requirements create the foundation for the roof and applicable manufacturer protection.

Almighty Standard

Additional Field Protection

We add details around fastening, waterproofing, valleys, ventilation, and ridge installation because we believe the roof should be built beyond minimum acceptance.

A warranty should validate the standard — not define it.

Actual CertainTeed warranty availability and protection depend on the specific roofing products, system components, property, contractor credential, installation requirements, registration, selected warranty level, and complete terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions of the warranty issued.

Asphalt Roofing FAQ

Know What's GoingInto Your Roof.

Start My Roof Review
What is the CertainTeed Integrity Roof System?+

The CertainTeed Integrity Roof System is a complete-system approach that brings compatible roofing components together instead of treating the shingles as the entire roof. We use that manufacturer system as the foundation of our asphalt installations.

What does “Built the Almighty Way” mean?+

It means the CertainTeed roofing system is our starting point, not the ceiling. Our asphalt standard adds enhanced high-wind fastening, additional ice-and-water protection at critical penetrations, metal-lined valleys, balanced ventilation, and hand-nailed, double-sealed ridge caps.

What is your hurricane nailing standard?+

We use an enhanced high-wind fastening approach while maintaining the required nail placement and installation requirements for the specific CertainTeed shingle and roof assembly.

Where do you install ice and water protection?+

In addition to required cold-weather protection, we pay additional waterproofing attention to vulnerable roof areas such as penetrations and critical transitions where water intrusion risk is higher.

Do you use metal roof valleys?+

Yes. Almighty uses metal flashing in roof valleys to create a dedicated drainage surface where water from multiple roof planes becomes concentrated.

Why does ventilation matter to the roofing system?+

Intake and exhaust ventilation work together to manage attic heat and moisture. We evaluate the ventilation system as part of the roof rather than automatically assuming the existing configuration is adequate.

Do you hand nail the ridge cap?+

Yes. Hip and ridge caps are hand nailed as part of our asphalt roofing standard so fastening placement can be controlled at these exposed areas of the roof.

What does double-sealed ridge cap mean?+

Our ridge-cap standard includes additional sealing at critical cap details instead of relying solely on the basic fastening pattern. It is one of the additional field details we build into an Almighty asphalt roof.

What is CertainTeed SureStart PLUS?+

SureStart PLUS is CertainTeed's enhanced manufacturer warranty protection for qualifying roofing systems installed under the applicable program requirements. Exact protection depends on the roofing products, system, property, contractor credentials, registration, warranty level, and warranty issued.

What happens after I submit my Roof Review?+

We begin with the property information you provide, review the roof and project goals, and contact you about the appropriate next step. Available remote information helps us understand the project before field verification.
